A bevy of Ferrari 458s, a raging Lamborghini Aventador and even a jaw-dropping Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG are just some of the cars owned by members of Melbourne Super Car Club (MSCC).
Established in 2011 by Eric Rossi, MSCC started out as an invitation-only affair. Now, the membership is growing with enthusiasts and owners of a range of machinery welcomed.
"Previously the club was accessible through invitation only -- the pre-requisites being that you
must own a supercar, and usually with a reference from an existing club member. As our member base grew, we soon realised that our structure was not scalable from a management perspective," club vice-president Lucas Murphy explained.
As interest in the club continued to grow, organisers were prompted to revise the MSCC’s membership structure. Now a tiered arrangement is in place. That means supercar owners can be "premium" members, while owners of other high performance cars, such as a BMW M3, are offered "associate" membership.
Membership is by application, but the group doesn't discriminate budding members based on their set of wheels. Murphy stated it largely boils down to the applicant’s community spirit and attitude.
"We seek friendly, caring, passionate and outgoing individuals who fit into the club’s dynamic, and show regular interest and involvement in the group -- with contribution to ideas and events or a willingness to assist fellow members," Rossi told motoring.com.au.
Social events are usually held every two weeks, with drive days across some of Victoria’s most picturesque roads taking place once a month. Members participate in other events including track days, driver education workshops and other activities once a quarter. The MSCC membership is also involved in mentoring initiatives and the club also organises fundraising events annually.
