Mercedes-Benz Sydney expansion

Construction begins on new Harbour City dealership

Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific President Wolfgang Schrempp has reaffirmed the brand's commitment to growth despite the difficult economic climate. Speaking at the beginning of construction of the new Mercedes-Benz Sydney dealership last week, Schrempp reiterated the comments made by global Benz boss Dieter Zetsche earlier this year.

"There are two special elements that lie at the heart of Mercedes-Benz, both of which we don't compromise, even in today's economic environment," Schrempp said. "One is the ongoing intense research and development work that goes into making our vehicles; the other is our customers," he said.

"Construction of our new Mercedes-Benz flagship in Sydney constitutes a vital investment in both our customers and business, and also indicates the importance of the New South Wales automotive market for our company."

The new Mercedes-Benz Sydney will be the state's flagship outlet on a 17,000 square-metre site in O'Riordan Street, Mascot near Sydney Airport. Adhering to the German firm's 'Autohaus' architectural style, the new facility will boast 1800 square-metres of showroom space over two floors, additional space for used vehicles, a workshop with 30 work bays and state-of-the-art equipment, as well as a guest lounge.

A special area will be dedicated to the AMG sportscar range and Maybach luxury models, while the Smart brand will also enjoy its own unique section.

Environmental considerations include rainwater harvesting, energy efficient light fittings, high-performance glazing and waste recycling.

"This is a very exciting time for our customers, our staff, and our brand," said Schrempp.

"It is essential we provide our customers with the luxury experience they expect when they make us their first choice."
