If you thought the Mercedes-Benz X-Class lacked a bit of visual bite, wrap your peepers around this bad boy!
The X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept was created by Polish tuner Carlex Design, which has already unleashed some wild designs with the 4x4 X-Class Exy Urban that are coming to Australia… but this creation is next level.
It's basically a Mad Max version of the modern-day pick-up truck, with the kind of design flourishes to turn heads and a six-wheel setup that broadcasts a pretty clear signal along the lines of "Ranger Raptor? Pffft, keep trying!"
Carlex Design says this concept proposal is under consideration for production and a source close to the project told motoring.com.au it is still a "bit of a way off" but said that it could come to Australia like the X-Class Exy Urban.
But where the Exy 6x6 is different to the 4x4 Exy Urban is that it will require some serious engineering solutions, given the extra set of rear wheels. Ergo, a bespoke driveshaft will be required and several other technical gubbins.
There's been a number of mega utes and 6x6 creations in the recent past, including the insane 447kW Hennessey VelicRaptor Ford F-150 and Kahn Defender.
Perhaps the most iconic six-wheeler was the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG 6X6, an in-house creation that we thrashed through the deserts of Dubai in 2013, and like that vehicle the X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept will be very expensive.
That vehicle weighed 3.8 tonnes and was powered by a 400kW/760Nm 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, but it's not clear what will power this aftermarket 6x6… possibly the 3.0-litre turbo V6 with 190kW/550Nm.
Certainly the X-Class 6x6 won't weigh almost four tonnes, which should work in its favour if it takes the V6 diesel route.
In terms of visuals, the Mercedes-Benz X-Class Exy 6x6 Concept looks completely bonkers. Bolt on wheel arches and chunky tyres along with a completely modified wide-body rear tray make the mutant X-Class significantly bigger and scarier than before.
There's a bonnet scoop up front, along with a completely redesigned front fascia that mimics the design cues of the Exy Off-Road Extreme model, complete with larger lateral air dams and even a winch.
The muscular machine has a roof-mounted LED light bar to startle other road users, while side steps and futuristic steam-punk inspired rear sports bar adds even more eye candy. At the rear there are stepped 3D-style exhaust pipes and a quasi spoiler of sorts.
Given that the V6-powered Mercedes X-Class 350d Power model grade is $79,415, a beast like this will not come cheap. The burning question for readers: How much would you pay for an outrageous design like this?
