Mercedes recalls its supercar SLR

Mercedes-Benz has recalled the SLR supercar it builds with F1 partner McLaren to fix an electrical problem which could cause an engine bay fire.

Surely this is one of the most exclusive – if not the most exclusive – recalls in automotive history.

Mercedes-Benz has recalled “certain” 2005-2006 model year – that’s 2004-2005 in our language – Mercedes-Benz SLR McLarens in the US because of an electrical system problem which could cause an engine bay fire. SLRs in other markets are believed to also be involved in the recall, although Mercedes-Benz’s international media site is yet to say so.
