Mercedes to cull CLS Shooting Brake

German car-maker will not replace its CLS-based wagon following poor sales

Mercedes-Benz has no plans to replace the CLS Shooting Brake, according to reports, following a poor sales performance in key markets.

The coupe-sedan is set to be replaced in 2018 and according to British magazine, Car, the Shooting Brake was originally due to be part of the range until the plug was pulled on its development at the last minute following lack of demand among US and Chinese buyers.

According to some reports greater internal pressures to cut development costs as sales slow in markets like Russia and China might have also been behind the decision to simplify the CLS range.
