Subaru's all-wheel-drive Forester wagon has reached an impressive milestone -- one million cars produced. The mid-size softroader has taken just over nine years to pass the magic mark -- the first model was produced in December 1996 and went on sale in Japan in February 1997.
Forester has the highest proportion of overseas sales among all Subaru models with 83.2 per cent of the model's sales occuring outside Japan.
The five-door five-seater was the best-selling compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Australia last year with 12,320 sales. To date, Subaru Australia has sold 80,000 Foresters locally.
Worldwide Forester sales totalled 119,743 last year -- a 6.2 per cent increase from 2004.
