Peugeot pulled the sheets off not one, but two world debuts at MIMS. Positioned just days before the opening of the Geneva show, the French marque was able to steal just a little of the Euro-show's thunder with the unveilings of the new 207 GTi and 207 CC.
The GTi and CC were displayed alongside a brace of the new small car models including the 207 GT and more pedestrian 207 XT variants. (More here)
The GTi features the same 128kW turbocharged direct-injected petrol four as the recently released MINI Cooper S. As is the want of some of the hottest hot hatches, the GTi features a two-place-only rear seat -- a la Volvo C30 and MINI. It goes on sale in June priced from $33,490 -- a substantial $6500 less than the BMW-built three-door it shares some of its underpinnings with.
The 207 continues Peugeot's history of folding hardtops -- the 206 CC is the best-selling coupe-cabriolet ever, says the maker. Peugeot also claims to have invented the genre via its 1937 402 Eclipse. Though no pricing has yet been announced for the 207 CC it too is expected to go on sale in June.
