MINI Countryman WRC video

As MINI prepares to challenge individual WRC events in 2011, the iconic company has revealed new footage of its hard-charging Countryman-based rally car in action

MINI has released a new video clip of its WRC-inspired all-wheel drive MINI Countryman in anger, as it prepares to contest six of the 13 rounds of this year's World Rally Championship.

Powered by a heavily modified 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine prepared by BMW Motorsport, the new Countryman-based MINI WRC race car will be fielded by UK-based Prodrive, and the MINI team plans to contest all rounds of the 2012 season.

"MINI is a cult brand which left a lasting impression during its previous motorsport campaigns. We are both extremely happy and proud to be on board as a partner when MINI returns to rallying," said Prodrive boss David Richards, who reckons that MINI can win a WRC championship within three years.

The dramatic music, the bold proclamations of "It's time to make history again" - the World Rally Championship is about to get an added dose of cheekiness...
