MINI D blog: We made it

Crossing the continent is still an adventure

Dateline: 20:50 May 30
Location: Perth (WA)

This is another update via the phone... Not because comms are bad in Perth -- but because we're both knackered... And the thought of pulling out a keyboard right now is not high on the wish list.

But we are here -- and it's been an eventful trip. The full story along with all our fuel figures will make it to the site in the next day or so... The Cooper D could turn around and do it again without raising a sweat, but we're in a different place -- if I don't have to drive anywhere for a week I'll be happy.

It might be sealed road from Sydney-to-Perth, and it's not like we've conquered the Sahara, but any way you look at it, crossing a whole continent in less than a week is still an adventure. The Great Ocean Road, the 90 Mile Straight and that bloody big hole in the ground in Kalgoorlie are all memories that are etched permanently... Not so sure about the Big Galah...

Muttley's still taking pics -- of the Cooper and Perth's skyline -- my stand-in phone photos are a crook replacement. Once that's done, the only thing I'm planning is a feed, a shower and a big sleep in...
