MINI has ceased production of the MINI Cabrio ("for now") and hasn't advised when an R56 version will follow.
The final unit of the 164,000-vehicle production run left the line at the Oxford plant in the UK earlier this week and MINI, far from admitting that production of a new Cabrio will recommence shortly, has actually said that the cessation of Cabrio production frees up the line for expanded hardtop and Clubman models.
But if there's no plan to reintroduce the MINI Cabrio with the latest design elements and the engines jointly developed by BMW and Peugeot, what's with all those pre-production cars being snapped by the spy photographers at Carparazzi (more here, here and here)?
It's far from an open-and-shut case, this one...
