MINI introduces JCW option packs for Cooper S

MINI has announced new John Cooper Works option packs for the Cooper S models in its local range, supplying demand for cars that resemble the flagship JCW models, but at a substantially lower price.

"Some of these you might have already seen introduced in other markets, and in Australia we've decided to time our introduction now," said Daniel Silverwood, Product Planning Manager for MINI Australia, during the launch of the MINI JCW Convertible.

"So this will fit between the midpoint of a standard Cooper S model and our John Cooper Works model. This is really targeted at customers who aren't going to take that extra step into our John Cooper Works model, be it for a range of reasons, but are looking for something with a bit more of a sporty edge, particularly from the aesthetic appeal… looking for a bit more individuality.

"So we've combined these packages that will sit at the point between these two models, and we'll start to see these from around about October, which is not that far away now.

"We're going to offer those across the range: so our hatch, our three-door and our five-door – particularly important on our 5-door, where there isn't a current John Cooper Works model within that range – and our MINI convertible, and as well the MINI Clubman."

Cooper S Hatch – $2750
• Aero kit with revised bumpers,

• 17-inch JCW alloy wheels,
• Further option ($900) of 18-inch alloys with run-flat tyes,
• Choice of Dynamic Damper Control or sports suspension,
• Anthracite headlining,
• JCW leather-bound sports steering wheel,

• JCW door sill plates,
• Stainless-steel pedals,
• Chili Red (solid) paint colour option

Cooper S Convertible – $2750
• As above, excluding Anthracite headlining

Cooper S Clubman – $5000
• Chili package, including LED headlights and leather seats,
• Aero kit with revised bumpers,
• JCW rear spoiler,
• 19-inch JCW alloy wheels in two-tone finish with run-flat tyres,
• Sports suspension,
• Anthracite headlining,
• JCW leather-bound sports steering wheel,
• JCW sports gear lever,
• JCW door sill plates,
• Stainless-steel pedals,
• Chili Red (solid) paint colour option
