MINI’s fettled John Cooper Works hatch and convertible will resume production early next year following a six-month sabbatical.
The British manufacturer has confirmed it has made provisions to the JCW’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder so that it complies with stricter WLTP emissions regulations.
As such, both JCW hatch and JCW convertible variants now feature a petrol particulate filter and ‘eco’ modes to maximise fuel consumption.
In terms of power, both models will be offered with 170kW, mated standard to a six-speed transmission (eight-speed automatic to be available as an option).
The hatch will notch 100km/h from rest in 6.3 seconds, while the drop-top takes 6.6 seconds.
Final Australian confirmation and specifications is yet to be determined, a spokeswoman for MINI said. However, in the UK the JCW will feature as standard: 17-inch John Cooper Works alloys, sports suspension, uprated brakes and a John Cooper Works body kit.
Automatic LED headlights, rain sensing wipers, branded puddle lighting, John Cooper Works bucket seats and customisable interior ambient lighting will also feature.
