MINI reveals four-legged digital PA

Animated English Bulldog to be face of British brand’s new infotainment system when it debuts on 2024 Aceman SUV

MINI has announced it will launch Spike the English Bulldog – its next-generation digital in-car personal assistant – at China's Shanghai motor show on April 18.

Set to be introduced in the MINI Aceman concept, Spike will spearhead the British small-car brand’s new multimedia system to be introduced in 2024 in both the production Aceman and the all-new MINI hatch.

Created to be operated via natural-speak, Spike will live within all future versions of MINI’s large circular OLED touch-screen systems, but can also take a walk across the entire dash thanks to new tech that is capable of projecting images across what looks like a fabric covering.

According to MINI, the English Bulldog was chosen because its “compact and powerful stature, British heritage and likable nature” make it the perfect “animal equivalent” to the MINI.

MINI will reveal more of Spike’s capabilities at the Shanghai show, including whether or not the next-gen infotainment system will incorporate artificial intelligence, allowing the animated four-legged friend to learn from its owner.
