MINI has been given the stamp of approval by Australia Post as part of a special commemoration of the centenary of the Australian driving licence.
The Australia Post “Driving Through the Years” special issue features the Morris 850 among a clutch of cars that made motoring folklore.
The collection was issued just ahead of MINI’s 47th birthday last Saturday (August 26).
The first locally made Morris 850s rolled off the BMC production lines in 1961. By 1966, MINI Cooper S models had made such an impact in local motor racing they filled the first nine places at the Gallagher 500 race at Bathurst, a feat unmatched to this day.
The MINI and other motoring stamps can be purchased at any Australia Post outlet, along with a special booklet detailing the collection.
