Mitsubishi has revealed full details of its new ASX VR-e electric SUV ahead of its Australian showroom arrival later this year, confirming a four-grade line-up, up to 342kW of power and what the brand claims will be the fastest-accelerating Mitsubishi officially sold in Australia.

While Mitsubishi confirmed the ASX VR-e for Australia in August, the brand has now detailed the complete specification of its first mainstream battery-electric vehicle.
The four-model range consists of LS, Aspire, Exceed and GSR variants, with the first three powered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 171kW and 350Nm.
Power comes from a 57.7kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with Mitsubishi claiming the rear-wheel-drive variants can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The flagship GSR adds a second electric motor on the front axle, boosting outputs to 342kW and 700Nm. Mitsubishi says the result is a 0-100km/h sprint of just 3.9 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating Mitsubishi ever officially sold in Australia.

Those outputs surpass the 299kW figure previously quoted for the Foxtron Bria on which the ASX VR-e is based.
All variants feature Eco, Comfort and Sport drive modes, while the GSR also varies front-to-rear torque distribution in Sport mode. Drivers can additionally choose between light, standard and heavy steering settings.
Charging capability includes CCS2 DC fast charging at up to 134kW and Type 2 AC charging at up to 6.6kW, while vehicle-to-load functionality is standard across the range.
Beyond the powertrain, Mitsubishi has detailed the ASX VR-e's Pininfarina-designed exterior, which incorporates aerodynamic elements including an S-Duct front-end design, air curtains, active grille shutters and flush-fitting door handles.

Inside, every model receives a 15.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen and 9.2-inch digital instrument display. The software-defined architecture supports over-the-air updates and connected services from launch.
Higher grades add features such as electrically operated flush door handles, seat heating and cooling, a 64-colour ambient lighting system, autonomous parking, a panoramic glass roof and a 12-speaker SEAS audio system.
Safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control with lane-following control, automated emergency braking, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and a driver monitoring system. Aspire grades and above also gain a surround-view camera and remote parking assistance.
Measuring 4315mm long, 1885mm wide and 1535mm high, the ASX VR-e rides on a 2800mm wheelbase. Those dimensions align closely with figures previously revealed through the related Foxtron Bria.
The ASX VR-e will arrive in Australian showrooms during late 2026, with pricing and local range figures yet to be announced.
The EV returns Mitsubishi to the Australian battery-electric passenger vehicle market for the first time since the i-MiEV and forms part of the brand's broader electrification strategy.
Its arrival also comes as Australia's EV market continues to expand rapidly. According to August 2026 VFACTS data, battery-electric passenger car and SUV sales reached 116,772 units year-to-date, up 161 per cent on the same period in 2025.
Competition is expected to come from a growing number of electric small SUVs, including the Kia EV3, Volvo EX30, Zeekr X and BYD Atto 2, while additional rivals such as the Hyundai IONIQ 3 are expected to arrive in coming years.
