Mitsubishi Mirage sedan arrives in Oz
First Mirage sedan in nameplate's 18-year history available from under $15kMitsubishi Motors Australia (MMA) has added a new sedan variant to its pocket-sized Mirage range.
Priced from $14,990 (plus on-road costs), the sedan arrives in two trim grades, and is available with manual and continuously variable transmissions, each mated to a 57kW/100Nm 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.
The wheelbase of the Mirage sedan grows 100mm over that of the hatch, providing what Mitsubishi says is generously proportioned seating for five and a spacious 450-litre boot.
Equipment levels closely reflect those of the hatch variant, with the entry-grade Mirage ES sedan variants offering 15-inch alloy wheels, manual air-conditioning, Bluetooth telephony and audio streaming, a four-speaker, single-CD audio system, power windows and mirrors, and cloth upholstery.
The high-spec Mirage LS (from $17,490 plus ORCs) adds single-zone climate control, dusk-sensing headlights, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and privacy glass.
All sedan models offer a 4.9L/100km combined cycle fuel economy figure and 116g/km CO2 ouput. A five-star ANCAP safety rating extends to both variants with standard safety equipment including antilock brakes and stability control, front, side and curtain airbags and hill-start control. Top-tether child-seat anchor points are fitted in all three rear seat positions, while ISOFIX-type preparation is offered on both outboard rear seats.
MMA's director of marketing, Tony Principe, says the new Mirage sedan will suit buyers chasing a balance between low running costs, good equipment levels and space.
"The new Mirage sedan balances value, style and safety with low running costs, making it the ideal choice for customers looking to downsize into a smaller, more fuel-efficient car without compromising on features and space," said Principe.
"The Mirage hatch has been embraced by Australians since it was launched last year, and the new Mirage sedan provides buyers with another well-equipped and attractive option at a price point that's hard to beat."
Like other Mirage variants, the sedan is also offered with Mitsubishi's five-year/100,000km warranty and four-year capped-price servicing plan. Scheduled servicing intervals are set at 12 months/15,000km (whichever comes first) and priced at $290 apiece.
