Mitsubishi has issued a product safety recall for 48,209 vehicles due to the possibility they may stall while being driven.
Affected models include MY15-16 versions of the (CJ and CF) Lancer, MY2015-15.5 versions of the (XB) ASX, and MY14 and MY16-17 versions of the (ZJ and ZK) Outlander.
The vehicles were sold in Australia between December 28, 2014 and February 6 this year, and you can check the full VIN list here or call 1300 131 211 to see if your vehicle is affected.
Mitsubishi, whose dealers will rectify customer cars when parts become available, says the problem relates to a faulty power relay that can generates excessive heat, resulting in relay failure.
“As a result, the engine may stall during driving, fail to restart or failsafe protection may be activated, with a loss of engine power. An unexpected loss of engine power may result in an accident,” said the Japanese brand.
