Mitsubishi teased its butch new Triton Raider tough truck this week ahead of the Aussie-developed dual-cab ute’s full reveal in early April, 2026. Designed specifically for the Australian market – in Australia – the Triton Raider is due on sale Down Under later this year with the promise of being the Japanese brand’s ‘most adventurous utility ever’.

Now in the final stages of pre-launch testing having recently been put to the test in the Flinders Ranges in remote South Australia, the triple-diamond-badged brand said the Triton Raider was inspired by rally raid competitions.
The official line from Mitsubishi is that Australian engineering ingenuity is at its core. We will be testing it soon to see if this indeed the case.
Details on the brand’s rock-crushing flagship are thin, and Mitsubishi execs are keeping their lips sealed in the lead-up to the Raider’s arrival, scheduled sometime this year.

Not much can be made from the teaser shot – which captures an Arkaroola sandstorm – save for more rugged (and likely flared) black wheel arches, and a chunky sports bar behind the cab.
It comes just weeks after Nissan revealed it wouldn’t be sharing its Premcar-tuned Navara Warrior with Mitsubishi, which is surprising given the current Triton and Navara are twins under the skin.
But while Mitsubishi says the Triton Raider is the result of a Mitsubishi Motors Australia-led program and will only be offered in Australia, it also didn’t deny working alongside a third-party engineering group such as Premcar or Walkinshaw.

The Triton Raider is due in showrooms this year, however, Mitsubishi is yet to reveal a firm date for its homegrown tough truck.
Executives also wouldn’t comment on whether the Raider will be a limited-run variant like the Walkinshaw-developed Triton Xtreme, instead saying all will be revealed in the coming weeks.
