Ford's UK-endorsed hot tuner Mountune has released yet another tuning kit for the Ford Focus ST that this time gives the hot hatch more power than the flagship Ford Focus RS.
The new m365 upgrade costs £1839 ($A3470) and is offered on the latest fourth-gen Ford Focus ST. For that, the British tuner boosts power by 62kW and increases torque by 140Nm.
That sees an m365-equipped Focus ST pump out a whopping 268kW and 560Nm – 11kW more than the original Focus RS with a considerable 120Nm more torque, but only if you run it on premium fuel (97RON+).
To get the full power and torque an owner must spend £689 ($A1300) on the remap and buy a high-flow air filter for £50 ($A95), plus a bespoke sports catalyst for £575 ($A1050) as well as a high-flow particulate filter for £525 ($A1000) that both act to liberate more power by reducing back pressure.
Mirroring the earlier m330 kit, owners can install and adjust the calibration of their car's engine mapping using the company's Bluetooth OBD dongle through an app on their phone or tablet.
Owners can also utilise the same app to fully immobilise the car if left for long periods.
As part of the power upgrade, there's a special wet weather mode, 'enhanced' exhaust note and launch control.
As well as offering the new m365 kit, Mountune says it will offer buyers who bought last year's m330 tuning kit the option to upgrade for just £99 ($A185).
Mountune has yet to release performance figures for a Focus ST m365, but it's thought the limitation of having to channel all its power and torque through the front wheels means it's unlikely to match the Focus RS's 4.7sec sprint from 0-100km/h.
That said, above three figures the 'Mountuned' Ford's extra might is likely to claw back a considerable advantage over the heavier all-wheel drive RS.
Approved by Ford of Great Britain, it's unlikely the m330 kit or the m365 will ever be officially imported by Ford Australia, but some of the go-faster Mountune parts are expected to land here through unofficial channels.
