The first new Hummer in a decade is just months away from its official unveiling, and the General Motors brand via which it will be sold, GMC, has now shed new light on what will drive the 1000hp truck.
We already know the 746kW (1000hp) Hummer EV will be officially revealed in Las Vegas on May 20 and, when it arrives in US showrooms around September 2021, it’ll have enough pep to cover the 0-100km/h sprint in around three seconds, matching rivals from Rivian, Fisker and Tesla.
Now, GM president Mark Ruess has detailed more of what will power the EV, revealing there will be several drivetrain layouts on offer.
“When we go to market, we’ll have one-motor, two-motor, three-motor versions, offering different ranges, different performance at different price points to meet the customers’ needs, whatever they may be,” Ruess said in a presentation.
Further details on the Hummer EV’s range and pricing are yet to be specified.
Tesla has previously confirmed its polarising Cybertruck will be offered in three powertrain configurations, while the Fisker Ocean SUV and Rivian R1S/R1T use a twin-motor set-up.
