Australian pricing and specifications have been announced for the updated Audi RS 4 Avant and RS 5 Sportback and Coupe, before the piping-hot mid-size luxury wagon, liftback and coupe arrive in showrooms next week (July 24).
All three high-performance models will bring more equipment and technology for less money.
Priced at $147,900 plus on-road costs, the Audi RS 4 Avant gets a price cut of almost $5000, while the Audi RS 5 Sportback and Coupe are both priced at $150,900 plus ORCs – a $6800 saving over the cars they replace.
Standard features for all three RS models include a head-up display, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control with stop/go function, active lane assist and auto-dimming exterior mirrors.
Inside, each model gets RS sport seats wrapped in Nappa leather with honeycomb stitching, plus stainless steel pedals, illuminated RS door trims, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel and gloss-black trim details throughout the cabin.
Heated and electrically adjustable seats with four-way lumbar adjustment and massage function are also standard, as is a panoramic sunroof, tinted windows and an electric tailgate with gesture control (except Coupe).
New for all three models are RS 1 and RS 2 driving modes (alongside standard driving modes) that can be configured for “specific high-performance” settings and quickly accessed via the steering wheel.
On the outside, each model gets a revised look with new front and rear bumpers and grilles, plus reworked Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light (for RS 5 models only) – which extends the high-beams with a laser spotlight under certain conditions at speeds over 70km/h.
Performance outputs remain the same at 331kW of power and 600Nm of torque, courtesy of Audi’s sweet 2.9-litre twin-turbo petrol V6, sent exclusively through an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system.
Both the RS 5 Sportback and Coupe can sprint to 100km/h in a claimed 3.9 seconds, while the RS 4 Avant manages the same in 4.1sec.
If fuel consumption matters, Audi claims the RS 4 and RS 5 will sip 9.4L and 9.5L per 100km, respectively.
Optional packages can be added, including an RS design pack ($3400) or a carbon and black styling package ($11,200).
All three RS cars are offered with the Audi’s service plan package, priced at $1950 for three years and $3050 for five years.
