Thanks to canny value-adding, Mercedes-Benz is in the midst of one of its most successful runouts ever. The all-new W204 C-Class arrives Down Under later this year (perhaps as early as July now), however final build examples of the outgoing W203 have been selling like hot cakes.
Now M-B has extended the concept of its successful Super Sport Edition C to the C 180 Kompressor Sports Coupé and C 200 Kompressor Estate.
The Super Sport Edition packages add around $10,000 worth of standard equipment list according to Benz -- at a cost of $1500 over normal retail prices.
The Super Sport Edition C 180 Kompressor Sports Coupé , now $56,890 (up from $55,390), gets the following: 17-inch six-spoke alloys; lowered sports suspension; AMG body kit, panoramic glass sunroof, Bi-Xenon headlamps, the choice of five metallic paint colours, interior upgrades, big-bore exhaust outlet, badging and mats.
The C 200 Kompressor Estate Super Sport Edition priced at $70,390 (up from $68,890) gets all of the above plus uprated perforated front discs and 'Mercedes-Benz' logoed calipers with black "Mercedes-Benz" lettering, power front sport seats, and steering-wheel mounted gearshift panels. In place of the panoramic sunroof (not available on the estate) there's a standard electric sunroof with tilt and slide functions.
Commenting on this special offer, managing director for the Mercedes Car Group in Australia, Horst von Sanden said: "We have been surprised with the runaway sales success of the C 180K Super Sport Edition since it was announced in January.
"Many of our customers have been calling for the same value to be made available to our C-Class Sports Coupé and Estate models, and it's great that we have been able to accommodate their wishes."
Mercedes says both Super Sport Editions will be offered in strictly limited numbers only.
