GTi Treffen revealed in all its decadence and debauchery

It's rapidly becoming the event where all the cool people hang out — or at least those who are fans of the Volkswagen Golf GTi and its Audi, Seat and Skoda derivatives.

The GTi Treffen was particularly piquant this year, the 35th anniversary of the Golf GTi. 'Treffen', by the way, is German for 'meet' and parallels the English use of the word in 'swapmeet'. The event was held in the Austrian town of Wörthersee, where it is held each year. As in earlier years, it's an event that Volkswagen and Audi have got behind and supported with the unveiling of interesting new concepts, such as Audi's A1 Clubsport quattro and VW's Golf Cabrio in GTi and R variants.

While it may not compare with our Summernats for burnout factor, the colour and movement of the GTi Treffen at Wörthersee certainly make the grade, as the images show.

The pictures are courtesy of the official photographer for the event, Sebastian Black, and press image website United Pictures (http://www.unitedpictures.eu).
