More pictures: Nissan LEAF NISMO

Nissan has released full pictures of its all-new LEAF NISMO concept ahead of official launch in a couple of weeks at the Tokyo motor show.

The sporty EV hot hatch looks the part with larger wheels, lower sport suspension and a bespoke body kit - including a rear-diffuser - boot lid spoiler and redesigned front splitter.

And there is no shortage of red-accent NISMO styling cues.

While Nissan hasn't released any technical, according to some reports, the 'concept' can be rushed into production if it's well-received by key global markets.

Once confirmed, it's thought the world's first pure-electric hot hatch will produce more power and torque than the standard car which runs a 110kW/320Nm single electric motor.

In order to secure a berth on the shopping lists of hit hatch enthusiasts, the LEAF NISMO will need to hit 100km/h in under six seconds and be priced close to petrol rivals like the Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Launch of the sporty pure-electric hatch will follow a long-range version of the standard LEAF which is expected to offer a range between battery recharges in excess of 500km.
