A nationwide product safety recall has been issued for the popular Toyota Kluger due to the potential for its lower front bumper to fall off.
The recall involves all examples of the current-generation seven-seat family SUV released in Australia in mid-2021, so 30,205 vehicles produced between 2021 and 2023.
This includes all current powertrains – 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid and 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol – as well as the discontinued 3.5-litre petrol V6.
According to the recall notice, “the lower resin bumper cover may detach if damaged during vehicle operation” – during a parking or drive-thru manoeuvre gone awry, for example.
“If the lower bumper detaches, it could cause a potential road hazard and increase the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Meanwhile, 82 examples of the new Mercedes-AMG SL 63 roadster are being recalled due to a potential fire risk.
Affecting all vehicles built between 2022 and 2023, the fault is said to be caused by a manufacturing defect, which Mercedes-Benz says could cause the 12-volt alternator wiring harness to come into contact with the transmission driveshaft.
If this occurs, damage to the wiring could cause a short circuit, which could lead to a loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire, said the German car-maker.

If so, affected owners are being asked to contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the issue rectified as soon as possible, free of charge.
