Toyota has boosted the engineroom of its top-selling van. All new Toyota HiAce models will be equipped with a more powerful turbodiesel engine, based on the 3.0-litre direct-injection engine as used by HiLux and upcoming revised Prado.
The engine will be fitted to all HiAce turbodiesel models from October 2006 production.
According to Toyota, the 1KD-FTV engine has 26Nm more torque than the 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine it supersedes.
The Toyota 1KD-FTV engine meets Euro IV emission requirements and is good for 80kW of power at 3000rpm, and 286Nm of torque from 1200 to 1600rpm. The HiAce with the VVT-i equipped 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol engine is also Euro IV compliant.
Upgrades for HiAce include an engine immobiliser and illuminated ignition key lock, front passenger seat recline adjustment on all models and HiAce Commuter bus models get front passenger seat slide adjustment and a centre console from October production.
Front mud flaps, a rear under-mirror and fabric and vinyl-covered sun visors are now standard equipment across the HiAce range.
Toyota HiAce turbodiesel pricing starts from $34,940 for the LWB van, and $32,240 for the 2.7-litre petrol LWB van.
