Morgan Super 3 Malle Rally Special hits the road

Morgan’s latest 3 Wheeler-based limited-edition gets high-end motorcycle luggage and accessories

Morgan has launched its new 2023 Morgan Super 3 Malle Rally Special for those brave enough to take the three-wheeled roadster on an epic drive.

Created in partnership with high-end motorcycle luggage and accessories brand Malle London, the Morgan Super 3 Malle Rally Special is priced from a punchy £54,995 ($A105,000) and could be offered Down Under when the Super 3 launches in Australia later this year.

Available in yellow, red and black, the Super 3 Malle Rally Special gets a unique livery that includes a topographic map of a British mountain road.

There’s also a Union Flag and a tagline that reads ‘prepare to get lost’ that’s plastered on the rear bootlid.

Finally, a numbered roundel is on the side flanks.

The nosecone, exhaust and roll hoops are all finished in white.

As standard, there’s LED headlights, USB charging ports, lockable storage, a navigation system, heated seats, interior bungee cords, footwell lighting, rear luggage rack and a cup holder.

As part of the special upgrades that come with the limited-edition, buyers get two Malle and Morgan-branded jackets, plus knee guards, step guards and waxed canvas panniers and luggage, all made by the London motorcycle outfitters.

Owners also receive an exclusive invite to a future Malle Rally, including the Great Malle Mountain Rally in Europe that begins in Austria and finishes in Monaco after an adventure drive that crosses through six countries in six days, including a climb over the Alps.

Relaunched at the beginning of last year, the all-new second-generation Morgan Super 3 replaced its predecessor’s motorcycle-derived 2.0-litre V-twin engine (60kW/140Nm) for a Ford-sourced 1.5-litre inline three-cylinder that produces 88kW and 149Nm.

The new engine means the Super can launch from 0-100km/h in around 7.0 seconds and top out at 209km/h. Like before there’s a short-throw five-speed Mazda MX-5 gearbox that channels power to the single rear wheel via a carbon-fibre reinforced belt.

Morgan, which also produces classically-styled Plus 4 and Plus 6 BMW-powered sports cars, is still to reveal local pricing and specs for the Super 3 and yet to confirm official timing.

But given the only Morgan 3 Wheeler sold here in Australia starts at $115,000 plus on-road costs, the new model won’t come cheap.

Commenting on the latest limited-edition, Morgan chief designer Jonathan Wells said: “From the outset of Super 3’s design process we had envisioned the vehicle embarking on incredible adventures all over the world.

“Through our collaboration with Malle London, we have been able to realise this vision and help equip owners to have their own adventures.”
