BMW has rolled out the 'red carpet' for international and national celebrities, including Tara Moss, Ryan Phelan and the Four Wiggles, to make their motor racing debut behind the wheel of the BMW 1 Series in next year's ever-popular BMW Celebrity Challenge at the F1 Grand prix at Melbourne's Albert Park circuit.
The BMW Celebrity Challenge is now cemented into the Australian F1 Grand Prix program with the stars of screen, radio, business, politics and sport showing off another side to their talents. The 2006 event is no exception with 28 celebrities on the proposed entry list.
Crime writer and serial premiere attendee, ex-model Tara Moss, Cleo Batchelor of the Year, Ryan Phelan, and the Four Wiggles -- Greg Page (Yellow Wiggle), Murray Cook (Red), Jeff Fatt (Purple) and Anthony Field (Blue) -- have been announced today as 'starters' for the 2006 race.
BMW will announce more likely candidates as the Grand Prix promotional calendar rolls out in the lead-up to the event which next year runs March 30 to April 2.
All the celebrities will undergo a week of intensive driver training under the tutelage of BMW Driver Training's, Geoff Brabham.
Brabham is a former Le Mans and Bathurst champion, as well as winner of numerous championships in the US. He has also had 10 Indianapolis 500 starts (best results 4th and 5th), won the Sebring 12-hour race twice, and was inducted into the American Motor Racing Hall of Fame last year.
The BMW 1 Series debuted in the 2005 race.
