Well, you’ve come to the right place because Scrap Car Comparison has revealed some of the most popular car-inspired baby names in the UK and US, as well as unique options that are starting to gain traction.
And it won’t be long before Aussies ditch baby names like ‘Holden Commodore’ (yes, that’s a thing) and Mercedes, in favour of trending names overseas, such as Cruze or Nova.
In 2022, the most common auto-inspired baby name for boys in the UK was Hudson, followed by Leon, Axel, Austin, and Cooper. For girls, the most common ones included Nova, Alba, Ariya, Elise, and Liana.
In the ‘States, Maverick (boy) was much more popular during the same year, ranking second for boys (after Hudson), while Nova was still the most popular car-related girl name in the US, but Genesis and Octavia ranked second and third.

Other interesting names to make the top 10 in the UK and US include Tucker (boy), Alba (girl), and Ariya (girl).
When it comes to the most unique names in the UK, Ariya took the top spot for boys, followed by Legacy, Nash, Rogue, Genesis, and Ram. For girls, it was Legacy, Lotus, Maverick, Maxima, and Soul.
In the US, Avanti is said to be the most unique boy name, while Ibiza took the top spot for girls.

According to registered baby names in the UK, Cruze has seen the highest increase between 2017 and 2022, while Axel, Hudson, Nova, and Soul have also risen in popularity.
For UK girls, the most trending car-inspired name is Nova, however, Avalon is a close second, followed by Liana, Octavia, and Zephyr.
In the US, there’s been a huge uptick in boys named Soul, while Chiron, Legacy, Cayman, and Polo have also risen in popularity. For girls, the name Astra is on the rise, as is Soul, Odyssey, Maverick, and Octavia.
