The highlight of the Mercedes-Benz stand at Melbourne's Motorclassica this weekend will be the Mercedes-Maybach S 600, new to the local market and offering a level of opulence not previously available in locally-delivered W222 S-Class variants.
A twin-turbo V12 powers the longer-wheelbase variant, producing 390kW and 830Nm from its six litres. According to Benz, the Maybach S 600 is 20cm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class models and is priced at $448,610 in Australia.
Also at Motorclassica, Benz will have the AMG GT S model on display, along with a 600 Grosser – the latter representing the prestige brand's long history of limousine building.
"Motorclassica is the perfect platform to display our latest vehicles while looking back to our past" said Horst Von Sanden, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Australia. "We invite our Mercedes-Benz customers, friends and car enthusiasts to visit our display at Motorclassica 2015."
Also on the Mercedes-Benz stand at Motorclassica is an SL 500 Mille Miglia 417 Special Edition. Sporting red accents on the front and rear spoilers, AMG performance wheels in black (19-inch front, 20-inch rear), red callipers and a magnetite black metallic paint finish, the SL 500 on display also features AMG seats, black centre console with redging, leather headrests with 'SL Mille Miglia' embroidery and a leather-bound (Nappa) steering wheel in red and black. Mercedes-Benz charges $15,900 for this option pack, which is available for both the SL 400 and SL 500.
The name for the option pack springs from the performance of Mercedes crew John Fitch and Kurt Gessl in the 1955 Mille Miglia. Fitch and Gessl left the start of the event at Bresca at 4:17 AM, with car bearing the number 417. After completing 1597km for the round trip to Rome and back to Bresca, the pair took 11 hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds to take out fifth outright.
