Australia’s premier annual exhibition of rare, classic and significant cars and motorcycles will celebrate its 10th anniversary at Melbourne’s iconic Royal Exhibition Centre in October.
Once again hundreds of collectible vehicles will be assembled for this year’s running of Motorclassica, to be held over October 11-13.
Organisers anticipate around 150 vehicles will compete in the annual Australian International Concours d’Elegance. Meantime, ‘Club Sandwich’ will be held outside, where 200 club-based cars and motorcycles will be on display, while Lorbek Luxury Cars will showcase 30 modern supercars.
A number of automotive milestones will also be celebrated at this year’s show, including 100 years of Bentley and 60 years of Mini.
French manufacturer Citroen will celebrate its centenary year with a display of 17 of its most iconic models -- including the very first Type A two-door cabriolet from 1920, a Maserati-powered Citroen SM and a 1923 Citroen 5CV -- the first vehicle to circumnavigate mainland Australia.
Show-goers will also be given a chance to test drive the French brand’s latest models at a pop-up activation in the eastern forecourt of the exhibition building.
A central stage at the event will see special guests and industry experts entertain, educate and advise show goers on “all aspects of the automotive lifestyle”.
As well, more than 80 exhibitors will be located upstairs, while Maskell’s Customs and Classics will provide live demonstrations of varying aspects of vehicle restoration for the second year in a row.
Coachbuilder Brian Tanti and vehicle restorer Greg Maskell will host the demos, while engaging with show-goers to answer questions and give advice.
Over the course of the show, the Live Restoration Theatre will conduct demos on mechanical reconditioning, panel beating, paint preparation and a mobile paint booth will live-stream vision to screens in the exhibition building.
Before the exhibition begins, the annual Tour Classica will parade a number of show cars through Melbourne CBD on the morning of Thursday, October 10, before arriving at the Royal Exhibition Building.
