Mt Baw Baw Sprint draws near
First round of the Australian Tarmac Rally Championship will kick off next weekendFans of tarmac rallying will be making the pilgrimage to Victoria's Mt Baw Baw for the opening round of the Australian Tarmac Rally Championship on February 20-21.
It's the fourth consecutive year Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort has hosted the round.
“The road is a real thrill to drive, in both directions. Anyone who uses it on a regular basis knows how challenging it is, especially when there is traffic going both ways," says event director Peter Washington.
“To be able to close it and use the whole road is an amazing experience for drivers who are licensed to drive at high speed. It’s a fantastic start to our series and we’re thrilled that the Resort is welcoming us again. We love coming to Mt Baw Baw.”
Comprising a 220km-long route, the course runs along the access road from Icy Creek to the Mt Baw Baw Resort car park and includes a 30km final competitive stage. According to the event organisers, around 50 cars are expected to enter, most of which will be modern or classic vehicles.
