MY21 Kia Picanto pricing revealed

The Kia Picanto has received an update for the 2021 model year, with all variants bar the range-topping GT now on sale and available in showrooms.

Pricing has risen $300 at the entry level, with the MY21 Kia Picanto range now priced from $14,690 plus on-road costs for the Picanto S with a five-speed manual transmission.

The mid-range Picanto GT-Line now starts from $16,140 plus ORCs for the manual – a rise of $250 – while automatic transmission for both the S and GT-Line adds $1600.

As carsales has previously reported, the MY21 Kia Picanto ushers in a variety of detail changes including upgraded MFR halogen headlights for S variants.

Meanwhile, GT-Line and GT grades pick up redesigned fog lights, a revised ‘tiger-nose’ grille and lower air intake, new 16-inch alloy wheels and brighter projection halogen headlights.

Carry-over features include an 8.0-inch touch-screen with wireless smartphone and dual Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a 4.2-inch colour instrument cluster.

Power for all variants bar the GT comes from a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (62kW/122Nm), driving the front wheels through a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

The GT uses a punchier 1.0-litre three-cylinder ‘Kappa’ turbo-petrol engine (74kW/172Nm) paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.

A spokesperson from Kia Australia said a delay on the top-spec Picanto GT means pricing will be available closer to the flagship variant’s arrival, expected to be in November, but carsales understands that it will start from $18,990 plus ORCs – $800 more than before.

The MY21 Kia Picanto range also carries over the Korean brand’s seven-year warranty with fixed-price servicing and roadside assist.
