Land Rover has announced pricing and specifications for the facelifted ‘21MY’ Range Rover Evoque, ahead of the upgraded mid-size SUV’s Australian arrival next February.
The British car-maker has simplified the Range Rover Evoque range, cutting the line-up down to just four variants for the 2021 model year – down from the previous number of 25 (rather confusing) options.
The 21MY Range Rover Evoque will again be offered with four-cylinder turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engines but this time in just R-Dynamic S, SE and HSE equipment grades.
Pricing will start from $66,530 plus on-road costs – up from $62,670 – for the entry-level R-Dynamic S variant with the base P200 engine.
All updated Evoque variants will come with the manufacturer’s latest infotainment system, Pivi, to replace the Touch Pro system found in current models.
Pivi will offer over-the-air updates, an embedded data connection and dual-phone Bluetooth connectivity, and will come with music-streaming app, Spotify, fully integrated into the unit’s menu.
Meanwhile, an Activity Key will be able to lock, unlock and start the vehicle within a certain proximity.
Other changes to the 21MY Range Rover Evoque line-up include the arrival of a new 150kW Ingenium four-cylinder diesel engine (D200), which promises lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption thanks to its mild-hybrid electric (MHEV) boost.
Carryover petrol-powered options include the 2.0-litre four-cylinder P200 and P250, while the D200 is the only diesel offering in the Evoque line-up – D150 and D180 options have been cut.
In Europe, there will also be a new Ingenium three-cylinder petrol engine (P160) and the first plug-in hybrid powertrain (P300E), but neither of them will be offered here in Australia.
Driver assistance tech has also been upgraded and now features a 360-degree camera that lets the driver see around the vehicle up to speeds of 30km/h, as well as a new rear collision monitor that uses radars to monitor the vehicle’s rear-end and prevent or reduce the severity of an impact.
Inside, a new cabin air filtration system will be able to monitor and display (via the touch-screen) the quality of the outside air. The system also has an ionisation feature designed to filter out fine particulate matter, allergens, pollen and even strong smells.
Occupants can select a ‘Purify’ mode to filter and monitor air quality inside the cabin, relative to the outside air, offering “reassurance that the air within is cleaner than the air outside”, says Land Rover.
