'Lion brand' Peugeot is asking Australians to name two white lion cubs born recently at NSW's Mogo Zoo.
The winner will receive flights for four from their nearest capital city to Sydney, weekend use of one of the latest Peugeots to drive to Mogo, and a personal tour of Mogo Zoo for a breakfast or evening feed plus the chance to meet the white lions up close. NSW Tourism Minister, the Honourable Sandra Nori MP (pictured) attended the zoo to help launch the competition, which ends December 14.
Peugeot's support of Mogo Zoo is part of a campaign to help a worldwide white lions breeding program. The French automaker has pledged a four-year sponsorship of the program and organised the nationwide naming campaign to raise awareness of the rare white lions and to help the zoo's efforts to ensure their survival.
The new cubs, a male and female, join the pride of Peugeot's first-sponsored lions: Purr and Joe.
"With a lion as Peugeot's corporate logo, the opportunity to work with Mogo Zoo and contribute towards the survival of these beautiful yet endangered lions makes perfect sense," says Mathew McAuley, National Public Relations Manager, Peugeot Australia.
"With our commitment to the breeding program, we are really bringing our 'logo to life'. Many Australians may be surprised to know that Peugeot has used a lion for its logo since 1850, and the Peugeot lion has adorned our cars since 1907," said McAuley. "We're thrilled to have the patter of an extra eight tiny white paws and we're fairly confident someone out there will come up with the right names!"
