The long running Need For Speed video game franchise has just released a new title, but there's a twist.
The team behind the game is giving fans a chance to take a car from the game along with in-game available modifications, and have that car created in the real world.
For five weeks, fans will have the chance to vote for what modifications available in the Need For Speed game should be added to the vehicle, and all those that vote will go into the draw to win exclusive Need For Speed prizes.
While the game features more than 50 virtual cars including exotic supercars, for this competition the chosen car is a neat Nissan Silvia (200SX) Spec R.
Once the most popular modifications are decided, a professional team of vehicle builders will get to work. They include:
Zen Garage, which will piece the car together but focus on wheel integration
Hayden Shapes, a surfboard design house that, using its experience and craftsmanship with fibreglass, will bring the car's bodykit design to life
DVATE, an experienced graphic artist that will make the car's paint job and graphics reality
As the votes are tallied and the car morphs into life, Need For Speed publisher Electronic Arts will release a series of progress build videos, starting next week with Zen Garages' Justin Fox outlining the customisation of wheels.
Then in the week starting November 23, a second video showcase the wheels on the car and Hayden Cox from Hayden Shapes will unveil bodykit options for fans to choose from.
In the week commencing November 30 a third video will show the car with wheels and bodykit and DVATE will reveal the graphics and artwork choices.
A fourth video in the week beginning December 7 will showcase the graphic artworks and other components, and announce details of the final reveal.
The final video in the week starting December 14 will reveal the car in all its glory during its debut at the End of Month Meet (EOMM) group's End of Year Festival on December 12 at Sydney Dragway, which will host a Drift Exhibition featuring 26 of Australia's best drifters, Nitro Funny Cars in action and burnout cars on the pad.
The finished Need For Speed Silvia will then join be shown in a series of public unveilings as part of a publicity tour, which can be tracked at the game's Facebook page.
