Season two of the Netflix Original Series follows even more teams, most notably Ferrari and Mercedes who did not participate the first time around, throughout the highly charged 2019 championship.
The power of the first season of this fly-on-the-wall documentary series was that there was a focus on the smaller teams whose stories and challenges on and off the track don’t get discussed and analysed as much as the bigger teams traditionally do. Will season two be able to balance this with the inclusion of the heavy hitters of Ferrari and Mercedes? Well we will have to watch to find out.
Things to expect this season include Lewis Hamilton claiming his sixth drivers’ title and his Mercedes team claiming their sixth consecutive constructors championship.
We see Australia’s own Daniel Ricciardo and his switch from Red Bull Racing to Renault, which to some was a risky move that could have put him in a far less superior car. Ricciardo outperformed his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg who loses his seat for the 2020 season.
Riccardo’s former team Red Bull Racing switched engine providers to Honda after a very public spat with Renault during 2018.
Ferrari had several mishaps throughout the season but did get a few wins on the board with two of them by Charles Leclerc who at just 21 years old managed to upstage his teammate Sebastian Vettel, seriously destabilising the four-time champion.
And of course we can expect to see all the usual spills and spats on and off the track that makes F1 one of the best and thrilling motor racing categories in the world.
Season two of Drive To Survive is streaming from February 28 on Netflix so clear your weekend plans and get ready to binge watch it all.
