First teaser image of Honda’s all-new city-car released ahead of next week's global unveilingHonda has released the first teaser image of its next-generation city-car, the 2020 Honda Jazz, ahead of its world debut at next week’s Tokyo motor show opening (October 23).
The shady pic reveals little more than the silhouette of a traditional, if more rounded, five-door hatchback but Honda has confirmed the new Jazz will only be available with a new twin-motor petrol-electric hybrid powertrain in Europe.
The Japanese brand says it will reveal its electrification plans during a media conference in Amsterdam at the same time as the Jazz reveal in Tokyo.
For now, it says only that the redesigned Jazz will “raise the bar in terms of comfort and driver enjoyment, with the new hybrid powertrain providing an exceptional blend of strong and effortless driving performance and impressive fuel economy”.
Honda is yet to confirm what will power Aussie versions of the all-new hatchback in Australia, where the new Jazz is expected on sale some time next year.
With the hybrid version discontinued here some time ago, the existing Jazz is currently available only with an 88kW/145Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
Last year Honda Australia sold almost 7000 examples of the Jazz – less than more popular rivals like the soon to be axed Hyundai Accent, Mazda2, Suzuki Swift and Toyota Yaris, an all-new version of which will also debut at the Tokyo show next week.
