The first teaser of the all-new 2024 Citroen e-C3 has been released, previewing the French car-maker’s incoming entry-level EV that will sell for less than €25,000 ($A40,000) when it launches in Europe next year.
Not yet confirmed for Australia, the Citroen e-C3 is shown in a front-on image that was hidden away in parent company Stellantis’ recent financial results and looks to be inspired by the wacky Citroen Oli concept revealed last year.
The Oli caused a stir with its radical cardboard body, which is definitely not expected to make it into production, but the concept’s LED lighting signature carries over.
The e-C3 also looks like it will feature a high ride height that will give the small hatch more of a rugged look.
Other design elements include an illuminated version of Citroen’s latest double-chevron logo at the front-end.
Beneath the skin, the e-C3 is expected to ride on the Stellantis group’s e-CMP platform that currently underpins cars like the Peugeot e-2008 that’s due in Australia next year.
The e-2008 is powered by a 100kW/260Nm electric motor fed by a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack and will cover up to 328km (WLTP) on a single charge.
The e-C3 is expected to get more modern 40-50kWh battery options that should also provide a range of up to 300km. Two motors are expected – 60kW and 80kW.
Created to sit above its cute all-electric Citroen Ami quadricycle, the e-C3 will rival incoming EVs like the Renault 5 and Volkswagen ID.2.
Primed for an October 2023 debut, the all-new Citroen e-C3 is expected go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2024, but there’s no word yet on its prospects for Australia.
