New 2024 Honda Accord confirmed for Australia

Honda’s new-generation Accord will be hybrid-only when it arrives Down Under before mid-year

The new-generation 2024 Honda Accord has been confirmed for Australia and will arrive here during the second quarter.

Pricing and equipment levels are still to be announced, however Honda’s flagship mid-size sedan will be powered exclusively by the same e:HEV petrol-electric hybrid powertrain as used in the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS.

As carsales has reported, Honda received local homologation approval for the Accord in December, which pointed to a hybrid-only line-up – as per the Japanese market, where the Australian-spec Accord will be built.

Only a single, highly specified model is expected to be offered, with the main options centring around colour choices – confirmed as Platinum White, Lunar Silver, Meteoroid Grey and Crystal Black.

“The Honda Accord has a rich history in the Australian market as a sophisticated, luxurious flagship model which has been a customer favourite since its arrival in 1977,” said Honda Australia director Carolyn McMahon.

“This new model offers the premium feel that Accord is renowned for, coupled with all the additional technological advances that customers are becoming accustomed to, including Honda’s e:HEV hybrid powertrain that delivers a dynamic combination of performance and efficiency.”

The new Accord is bigger, sleeker and more advanced than its predecessor, and will be the first Honda offered in Australia with Google built-in.

The e:HEV powertrain, which combines two electric motors with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, is also likely to become the most powerful iteration yet, given the North American versions produce a healthy 152kW/335Nm – compared to the CR-V’s 135kW/335Nm.

Market-specific information and technical data will be released in the coming weeks in preparation for the local launch before mid-year.
