New 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S EV will be seriously quick

Jeep teases production version of ballistic new battery-electric coupe-style SUV coming soon

Jeep has released its first teaser of the all-electric 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S and confirmed that it will launch the fast new zero-emissions coupe-style SUV in the final quarter of this year.

Already locked in for Australia, possibly before the end of this year but perhaps most likely in the first half of 2025, the new teaser of a front-on shot of the production Jeep Wagoneer S suggests it will feature identical styling to the 2022 show car.

Jeep has also confirmed the Wagoneer S, which features an unusual LED-lit seven-slot grille, will also keep the concept’s mighty 447kW dual-motor powertrain that will enable it to sprint from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 3.5 seconds.

There’s no word on driving range, but the show car was said to be able to cover around 650km on a single charge, thanks in part to its sleek, aerodynamic styling.

At the time of the concept’s debut, the Wagoneer S was understood to be based on the Stellantis group’s STLA EV architecture – a car-based platform that would mean that the fast SUV-coupe wouldn’t be trail-rated.

Despite employing the Wagoneer name from Jeep’s big seven-seat SUV, the sportier S version is actually a much smaller car and closer in proportion to the Jeep Grand Cherokee L.

Even though it won’t be as rugged as a Wrangler, Jeep has confirmed that its sportiest all-electric SUV will come standard with its 4xe all-wheel drive tech and have a traction-boosting all-terrain management system.

Both the Jeep Wagoneer S and more rugged Recon that’s also powered by an all-electric powertrain will be offered to Australian buyers, so stand by for further details as they come to hand.

In the US, the Jeep Wagoneer S is tipped to be priced from $US80,000 to $US100,000 ($A122,000-$A153,000).
