An Australian company has revealed a new 4x4 conversion kit to suit the new Toyota HiAce 300 Series Commuter.
Bus 4x4 says its all-wheel drive conversion kit is “ideal for harsh environments where you are moving a moderate amount of people”, adding: “Leading Australian mining companies meet their 4x4 needs with our vehicles.”
Carrying a recommended retail price of $108,235 (plus on-road costs) for the complete package, the Bus 4x4 conversion kit takes the regular HiAce Commuter and then adds full-time high range and low range 4x4, 180mm lift and modified independent front and rear suspension.
The kit also comprises a rear diff locker, choice of standard or upgraded wheels and tyres and wheel arch bullet moulding for added protection. There’s also the option of front protection rails and rock sliders for an added cost.
“This enables the vehicle to have better ground clearance with greater traction and control, no matter what the road conditions, giving it far greater ability to comfortably and safely get your work done,” the company says.
The Bus 4x4 AWD Conversion Kit suits the entire Hiace range, including the long-wheelbase crew van, SLWB Commuter, SLWB 12-seat Commuter and Granvia.
This certainly isn’t the first time a van has been adapted to off-roading – Mitsubishi Delica, anyone? – and won’t be the last.
