If you happen to spot an accessory-laden Renault Master parked at a worksite or cruising the streets, chances are a lot of that extra gear is Australian-made.
The French manufacturer's local arm has just announced a revitalised accessory list that not only broadens the capabilities of the big light truck, but also adds locally-sourced add-ons.
These include items such as towbars, roof bars, cargo barriers and roof racks, supplementing an extended range of factory-sourced accessories headed by a new structural steel-framed drop-side tray for the cab/chassis Master that comes with a resin-coated timber deck and eight 80kg-rated tie-down rings.
Also included in the Master's new accessory list is a system dubbed the Horizontal Ladder Rotator that takes much of the toil out of loading and unloading roof-mounted ladders. It is "one of the best accessories on the market to make this process an ergonomic and safe experience," says Renault Australia's national parts manager, Jean-Marc Julien.
"If the job needs the ladders on and off the roof several times a day, this device will make life a lot easier," he said.
The new range of accessories also includes things such as a retractable rear step, moulded mudguards and steel cyclist-protection bars running down each side.
Jean-Marc Julien said the adoption of locally-sourced items is for pragmatic, as well as Australian standard-compliance reasons: "We do this not only to comply with Australian standards, but also to ensure key products are readily available," he said.
Australian accessories are to be seen on the Master's little brother too. The new Renault Trafic is available with locally-sourced items such as the cargo barrier, pillar handles, towbar, rear steps, roof racks and roof bars.
The new, genuine Renault accessories are available now from the company's Australian network of 50 dealers.
