Mercedes-Benz eVito gets 314km range

Mercedes-Benz Vans has revealed its new battery-electric 2022 Mercedes-Benz eVito that's claimed to carry up to 888kg and cover up to 314km between recharges.

Boosting battery size from 41.4kWh to 60kWh (useable), the maximum WLTP-verified range for the zero-emissions delivery van – which is confirmed for Australia – increases from 186km to up to 314km.

As well as a bigger battery, topping-up has also been improved and the mid-size eVito can now be recharged at up to 50kW as standard, or 80kW as an option.

Using the fastest of the two DC chargers, a 10-80 per cent refill of the batteries takes around 35 minutes. An 11kW AC wallbox takes around 6.5 hours.

Like before, the eVito offers adjustable levels of regenerative braking, but for the new model there's now a useful DAuto mode that automatically adjusts regen depending on traffic conditions.

The DAuto tech works by using the on-board driving assist hardware to vary regenerative braking, giving you more regen when it senses standing traffic ahead.

Despite the larger battery, the 6.6-cubic-metre cargo volume remains unchanged although payload has been reduced to 888kg for the 5.14-metre long-wheelbase version and 853kg for the 5.37m extra-LWB version.

All versions get a front-mounted single motor that produces 85kW and 360Nm of torque.

To help operators maximise range, the eVito's top speed is limited to 80km/h although this can be increased to either 100km/h or 120km/h on request.

As standard, the new e-Vito gets 17-inch wheels, a heated driver's seat, a multifunction steering wheel and driver assist features that include autonomous emergency braking (AEB), attention assist and headlight assist.

Pricing and full specs for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz eVito will be released closer to its launch in Australia next year.
