Audi used Frankfurt to unveil its latest version of the A4 Cabriolet. One of the company's worldwide success stories, the new A4 Cabriolet echoes the lines (and underskin changes) wrought on the mid-sized executive hardtop late last year. The most obvious change is the adoption of the now-familiar single-frame grille. Newly styled rear lights add a further visual touch. The taut shoulder and flank lines of the saloon are also evident.
The Cabriolet is launched with a range of FSI and turbo FSI petrol engines while Euro Cabrio buyers will also be able to specify the makers 3.0 V6 turbo diesel.
The new cabrio's fully automatic, electro-hydraulic hood can be operated at speeds up to 30km/h. As an option Audi also offers an acoustic hood, which offers extra insulation. The company claims so equipped, the A4 Cabriolet virtually matches A4 saloon in noise levels even at fast highway speeds.
In Australia, the new Audi Cabriolet is expected towards the end of 2006. Pricing, engine range and equipment are not yet available for Australian-specification vehicles.
