Audi Australia has detailed pricing and specs for the 2021 Audi Q2, which in a mid-life update for the premium small SUV brings a new look, extra equipment and more efficient petrol engine option.
Arriving in showrooms in May priced from $42,900 plus on-road costs (up $950), the entry-level Audi Q2 35 TFSI model has swapped out its 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine for an all-new and more efficient 1.5-litre donk.
Although it produces the same power and torque as before (110kW/250Nm), the entry front-wheel drive Q2 will now consume 5.2L/100km on the official combined cycle – down from 5.3L/100km – with the benefit of cylinder-on-demand technology.
This tech enables two of the engine’s four cylinders to be shut down at low throttle load and engine speeds, resuming “full power seamlessly as required”, says Audi.
The 2021 Audi Q2 35 TFSI also now comes with a range of new standard equipment including heated exterior mirrors, a convenience key and an 8.3-inch touch-screen with navigation.
It also gets 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, leather-appointed seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging and a digital instrument cluster.
Standard safety features include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, side assist, parking system plus with sensors, a rear-view camera, tyre pressure indicators and six airbags.
Priced from $49,900 plus ORCs (+$500), the higher-grade Audi Q2 40 TFSI quattro adds an S line package which brings Audi Sport 18-inch alloy wheels, Audi drive select, electric tailgate, auto-dimming interior mirror, aluminium interior accents and sport front seats.
It continues with the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 140kW/320Nm to all four wheels via Audi’s quattro four-wheel drive system.
Audi claims the 40 TFSI uses 7.0L/100km on the combined cycle and is good for a sprint to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds. For reference, the 35 TFSI takes 8.6sec to hit 100 clicks.
Both models are paired as standard with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission.
Design changes brought with the Audi Q2 update include a lower-mounted single-frame grille, which aims to make the front-end appear wider, while larger implied air inlets are now pentagonal and appear “more expressive”, says Audi.
At the rear, the pentagon theme carries over, with the bumper now featuring an integrated angular diffuser insert, with large pentagons either side.
As previously reported, the high-performance 2021 Audi SQ2 is set to arrive at the same time as the 35 and 40 TFSI models, bringing 221kW/400Nm from a spicy 2.0-litre four-pot turbo.
How much does the 2021 Audi Q2 cost?
