New Bentley Continental GT is a work of art
Legendary British artist Sir Peter Blake’s Bentley art car to be auctioned off for hospice charityLuxury car-maker Bentley has commissioned the artist who gave us the Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover to create the first ‘pop art Bentley’.
British artist, Sir Peter Blake set about transforming a Continental GT V8 S Convertible by adding a St James Red heart motif that was hand painted on a yellow bonnet.
Other features added by Blake, include a new colour called St Luke’s Blue (named after St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice that’s local to Bentley) as well a fuchsia pink-coloured radiator that’s reminiscent of the pop art scene the British artist helped to create.
Inside, the mad mix of wildly contrasting colours continues with each seat trimmed in different shades that accentuate the vivid pink gear lever.
Completing his personal touches are Blake’s signature embroidered on all four seat headrests and a treadplate that has a special plaque commemorating the collaboration between Bentley and the artist.
Speaking following its unveiling the British artist said: “I am proud to have been involved with transforming this beautiful car, and have enormous admiration for the people at Bentley who brought my design into being, to produce this one-off lovely car.”
The Bentley art car will be auctioned for charity at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 24 with all proceeds going to the Care2Save Charitable Trust.
