Bentley has previewed an all-new hand-built GT called the Bentley Mulliner Batur that heralds the British brand’s design direction for future models.
Set to be unveiled at the upcoming Monterey Car Week that opens later this month, the 2022 Bentley Mulliner Batur follows the million-dollar Bentley Bacalar roadster as the latest model to emerge from the luxury car-maker’s bespoke division.
Named after a crater lake in Bali and set to be a limited-run model, the Batur is teased in a video which only shows its dominant front grille that features an unusual diamond-shaped pattern with V orange accents.
There’s no word on what lies beneath the Bentley Batur, but it’s thought once again the Mulliner creation will sit on the same Volkswagen Group MSB architecture – the same platform underpinning the current Bentley Continental GT.
That points to Bentley’s twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine as the likely power source. In the Bacalar, the engine produces 485kW and 900Nm of torque, combining with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Bacalar can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and top out at 330km/h.
It’s rumoured that Bentley Mulliner will produce just 25 units of the Batur, with each version priced from $US2 million ($A2.9m).
Stay tuned, as all will be revealed on August 21 in California.
