Following yesterday’s leak, BMW Australia has announced full pricing and specifications for the new BMW M3 and M4 due in showrooms early next year, including several costly options.
Proving the leaked figures correct, the official entry prices for the 353kW BMW M3 and M4 manual are $144,900 and $149,900 respectively, which makes them significantly more expensive than the previous BMW M3 Pure model ($129,900) – although BMW is almost certain to offer a new Pure version down the track.
The more powerful 375kW BMW M3 and M4 Competition models add another $10,000 to the price but compared to their rivals, including the Audi RS 4 an RS 5 models and Mercedes-AMG C63 S sedan and coupe, the BMW twins are still more affordable.
Standard features across the new BMW M3 and M4 range include a carbon-fibre roof, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels, adaptive M suspension, BMW Laserlight headlights, M sports seats and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.
Racetrack junkies will also appreciate the standard fitment of the 10-stage M traction control system, M Drift Analyser, M track mode and lap timer.
The BMW M3 and M4 Competition models add an eight-speed automatic transmission, Merino leather upholstery, the comfort access system which includes smartphone-based ‘digital key’ vehicle access and engine start, carbon gear shift paddles and improved semi-autonomous driving aids via the driving assistant professional pack. See below for the full equipment list.
However, buyers who tick all the option boxes will see the car’s rise to almost $200,000.
M carbon ceramic brakes ($16,500) add motorsport-derived track-ready braking performance to the price, while the M carbon exterior package ($9500) adds a carbon-fibre front bumper, rear spoiler with diffuser and mirror caps.
Meantime, lightweight M carbon bucket seats ($7500) shave 9.6kg off the car’s kerb mass and feature removable head restraints for track driving.
These three packs can be bundled together for $26,000, representing a saving of around $7500 if purchased separately.
Buyers can also option Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2+ or Pirelli P Zero Corsa+ tyres for $2000 and there are a few paint options that don’t come cheap, including BMW Individual paint finishes Dravit Grey metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic and Oxide Grey metallic – all pegged at $2500.
Frozen Portimao Blue metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Frozen Dark Grey and Frozen Orange metallic are priced at $5000 each and the crème de la crème of paint jobs for the M3 and M4 – Frozen Brilliant White metallic – will add $7000 to the price of the vehicle.
Standard features across the BMW M3 and M4 range include the carbon-fibre interior trim package, while buyers can specify Yas Marina Blue/Black and Kyalami Orange/Black seat upholstery at no extra cost.
