The 2021 BMW M3 and M4 have been exposed online by Instagram user Carswithoutlimits less than 24 hours before their global online debut at 8:00am tomorrow morning (September 23).
The four images published show the all-new mid-size M sedan and coupe from both front and rear angles (but not inside), revealing both models will wear the controversial new ‘big mouth’ grille previously seen in leaked BMW M4 images.
They confirm both models will bring a new, more aggressive take on the super-sized kidney grille that will punctuate the new BMW 4 Series when it arrives Down Under in October, only this time with blacked-out air inlets and a body-coloured vertical upright separating the two halves of the grille.
Today’s leak follows official teaser images posted to BMW Australia’s social media pages in recent days, one of which appears to confirm Aussies will indeed be offered a six-speed manual transmission in at least one of the models.
Expect both the 2021 BMW M3 sedan and M4 Coupe to arrive Down Under early next year, followed by the first M3 Touring wagon.
All three new M cars are expected to be powered by the same new 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six-cylinder engine that powers the latest X3 M and X4 M, therefore producing at least 353kW and 600Nm.
An eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission will be available alongside the manual, along with rear-drive, all-wheel drive and top-shelf Competition versions.
Watch this space from tomorrow morning for full official details.
